We arrived at our planned times but had spent the previous 50 minutes trying to contact our hostess so we could get in. In desperation we contacted Booking.com and eventually she arrived full of apologies. Her pre-school child had switched off the phone,||Our room was spacious with views to the countryside and mountains. It faced west which made it ideal for getting our walking clothes dry. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean.||To compensate us for the delay we were given our breakfast free of charge when it was delivered fresh the next morning.

Let me preface this by saying I normally don’t write a review unless it’s glowing, but I feel like I should give others a head’s-up about staying in this bed and breakfast. To start, the property set-up is two bedrooms with a shared kitchen, bathroom and patio/garden area. The host was kind and we had wonderful roommates during our stay. However, there were some serious downfalls. The place is decorated in a 1970’s and never updated kind of way - which some may find quaint, but we found a little strange. The decor wasn’t the dealbreaker though, what truly upset me about staying here was the lack of rest we were able to have during our beach holiday in Cinque Terre. The bed was hard as a rock, pillows were flat, and like many hotels in Europe there was no a/c. The problem with this particular room is that it is on the bottom floor of a busy road. At night light streamed through and there were no curtains to help, and the mosquitos were terrible. We woke up each morning covered in bites. Also, the building faces an auto store, which apparently gets very busy between 6-7 am. It was impossible to sleep after they got started because of how noisy it was. In short - we could deal with the decor, hard bed, flat pillows, mosquitos, noise, and heat if they weren’t all issues at the same time. I would have paid the extra 20 or so euros to stay somewhere else had I known what I was in for.
